College men discerning the priesthood for the Diocese of Columbus will typically need to be enrolled at the Pontifical College Josephinum. The Diocese uses both the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus and Mount St. Mary’s in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

In order to be accepted by a seminary, a young man must be sponsored by a diocese. The decision for college is the Josephinum. The Bishop makes the decision of which seminary for the theologian to attend after he has completed college at the Josephinum. This decision is determined after consulting with the Vocations director and the seminarian.
