“Then Jesus approached and said to them, ‘All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.'” (Matthew 28:18-20)
More than ever the people in our world need to encounter personally and intimately know Jesus Christ, embrace the saving truths of His Gospel, and be nourished by the Eucharist. Since Jesus called the original twelve apostles to spread the Good News of the Gospel and bring hope to our world, generations of holy and dedicated men and women have been called to live the commission of Jesus by seeking holiness. That mission continues today!
I welcome you to SeekHoliness.com – the Vocations website of the Diocese of Columbus. On behalf of all the faithful in our diocese, I thank you for taking this opportunity to seek God’s will for you and for exploring how the Lord may be calling on you to assist Him in spreading His saving word though your service to Him, His church and His people as priests and religious. I hope this site will help you in some aspect of your discernment. While every one of us is called to discern God’s will for them and to seek holiness, this site is intended to provide information and resources for men who are considering a call to diocesan priesthood and for men and women considering religious life.
Most importantly, as you discern, I strongly encourage you seek the advice and counsel of the clergy of your parish — priests and deacons, religious Sisters and Brothers, and Father Paul Noble, our Director of Vocations. We are all happy to support you in any way we can. Stay close to the Lord in prayer, especially the Rosary, reading the Gospels, partaking in Holy Mass, and in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.
Working with Father Noble, and Father Michael Lumpe, Vice Rector of the Pontifical College Josephinum, I would also encourage you to explore seminary life through a one day visit or overnight “live-in” to the Josephinum. Visit their web page at www.pcj.edu.
May the Holy Spirit continue to guide your discernment to a grace filled and joyous life as a priest or religious. God bless.
